Using a spreadsheet app to manage your Shopify data is a blessing. In a spreadsheet view, you see everything, from the product title and descriptions to inventory, tags, and metafields to prices and orders. You can find and replace, delete, edit, or copy-paste.

Here we’ve listed five hacks you should try for your Shopify store with a spreadsheet app:

Product Updates

Once you install the Mixtable Spreadsheet Editor app, you can load your product data, which will appear in an Excel-like format.

You can view all products and variants from the Products (with variants) worksheet and do whatever edits you need:

  • Change product titles

  • Find and replace specific word

  • Improve the SEO titles

  • Add tags and meta objects, etc.

  • Update product status

  • NEW: With Mixtable Analytics Spreadsheet, add analytics per product (or product variant), such as:

    • number of orders
    • gross/net sales
    • refunds
    • discounts, etc.

From the Shopify admin, you would need to click on every single product variant to make an edit. Here, you have everything in front of you.

The best part is that you can review all your changes and sync them back to Shopify in one go.

Metafields

Managing metafields with a spreadsheet is like a dream come true. If you want anything changed or updated within your metafields, using the Mixtable app will save you literally hours of work.

With the Mixtable spreadsheet app, you can edit

  • Metafields with preset choices/list of values
  • Product Reference metafields
  • Variant reference metafields
  • Page reference metafields

Copy-paste, find-replace, and any other shortcuts you are used to from working with Google Sheets would work. You can find detailed instructions on how to edit metafields here.

Price, incl. Compare At Price

Price changes can be done quickly with the Mixtable spreadsheet app in Shopify, especially with the Bulk number changes tool in the Bulk Edit menu. You can

  • Add and Subtract
  • Increase or Decrease by percentage (%)
  • Multiply or Divide

Most importantly, you can manage the Compare At prices for different markets, something that cannot be done via Shopify admin.

Tags

Tags are essential for managing categories in Shopify and enabling users to find your products through filters.

Adding, deleting, or editing tags can be done efficiently through Mixtable’s spreadsheet functionality. More info on editing Shopify tags

Blogs

If you are investing in content marketing and want to attract organic traffic to your store, you will enjoy this capability! With the Mixtable spreadsheet, you can edit your blog posts’ titles, content, tags, SEO titles, and meta descriptions in bulk, right in the worksheet cells.

  1. Create a spreadsheet from the Blogs and Blog Posts template. Your posts load into a Blog Posts worksheet, one post per row
  2. Edit the cells you want to change, such as Title, Content (the post’s HTML), or Tags. To work on SEO titles and meta descriptions, click + Shopify data in the header row of an empty column. The field picker opens and asks What should column E show?, with your column’s letter in place of E. Click SEO title or SEO description in the Search engine listing section, then click Save Column
  3. To read a whole post before you change it, select its row and click Details in the toolbar. The Details panel shows the post’s text, search engine listing, and metafields. It is view only, so make your changes in the cells
  4. Click Sync at the top right of the spreadsheet, review your changes in the preview that opens, then click Sync again
