Publish or unpublish Shopify products in bulk

In Shopify, making a product visible to shoppers means publishing it to a sales channel. The two main built-in Shopify sales channels are:

• Online Store: your public-facing Shopify website
• Point of Sale (POS): your in-person retail location

Mixtable lets you control which channels your products appear on, individually or in bulk, using a simple spreadsheet. You can also manage other channels like Facebook, Instagram, Google, international markets, or B2B catalogs the same way.

What you’ll need

• Your Shopify store connected to Mixtable
• Products must have Active status in Shopify to be published to any channel. If you need to update product status in bulk, see Bulk update Shopify product status.

Add a sales channel column to your worksheet

Each sales channel gets its own column in the worksheet. The column shows true (published) or false (not published) for every product.

This works on both Products (no variants) and Products (with variants) worksheets.

1. Open a workbook connected to your Shopify store and go to a Products (no variants) or Products (with variants) worksheet.
2. Click on an empty column header.
3. To load new Shopify data, start by selecting an empty column — any column with a non-green header (green headers mean the column is already linked to Shopify data). Then, click the ⚡️ button in the column header to open the selection window to choose the data you want to pull in.
4. In the column picker, select Sales channels.
5. Choose the channel you want (for example, Online Store) and click Save.
6. Repeat the steps above to add a column for Point of Sale (or any other channel you want to manage).

The column will populate with true or false for each product, showing whether it is currently published on that channel.

Publish or unpublish products

1. Find the sales channel column for the channel you want to update.
2. Set the value to:
   • true to publish the product to that channel (it will become visible to shoppers)
   • false to unpublish the product from that channel (it will be hidden)
3. You can change one product at a time, or update many products at once using copy/paste, dragging a cell’s value down, or the Bulk Find and Replace feature.
4. Click Sync worksheet changes to Shopify to apply the changes.

Mixtable will update the product’s availability on that channel right away in Shopify.

Troubleshooting

• A product won’t publish: Check that the product’s status is Active. Draft products cannot be published to any sales channel.
