Bulk update Shopify product status
The product Status field allows Shopify products to be set as being draft while you are working on them, and then set to active when they are to be published on your active sales channels. Mixtable’s Excel-like spreadsheet interface makes changing the product status trivial.
You only have to map the status column on a worksheet that syncs product data to your Shopify store, and modify the cells for the relevant product. Here is how.
- Set up a spreadsheet and set up a worksheet to sync the products whose status you’ll be editing
- To load more Shopify data, click + Shopify data in the header row of an empty column, such as the one right after your last column. You can also choose Column > Add Shopify data… from the menu bar. The field picker opens and asks What should column E show?, with your column's letter in place of E. It lists everything the worksheet can show from Shopify, grouped into sections the way your Shopify admin groups them. Type in the search box at the top, or click a section on the left, to find the field you want.

- Type Status in the search box, or click Status & channels in the list of sections on the left. Click Status, then click Save Column. On a Products (with variants) worksheet, Status has a Product tag because all of a product’s variants share one status
- You’ll now see the column populate with the existing status values for your products
- Change the status value of the products you want to set as draft or active
- Click Sync at the top right of the spreadsheet, review your changes in the preview that opens, then click Sync again to send them to Shopify
Tip: Deciding which products to move to draft? Mixtable Analytics Spreadsheet can add a net sales column beside your status column, so you can sort the slow movers to the top and retire them with the numbers in front of you.
